Dubmission Records have blazed a trail of warped woofers since the mid 90’s, when they launched with a trio of bass heavy dubwise compilations.

In 1996, they kicked off with the Mashing Up Creation album, which featured tracks by Doof, Adelphi and 100th Monkey amongst others. It was reviewed favourably by The Sunday Times, DJ and Sleaze Nation – the latter describing it as “carrying on where original dub hijackers The Orb left off!” It was swiftly followed by Dubbed On Planet Skunk, with stand out tracks from Zion Train, Quirk and Alpha & Omega. Praised by Music Week, Muzik, DJ and Kiss FM, it sold over 3,000 copies in Europe alone. The third instalment took 2 years to put together – More Bass Than Space was a double album which represented every spectrum of the modern dub scene, with tunes from artists as diverse as Hallucinogen, Woob, Solar Quest, Singers&Players and Tribal Drift. It sold well all over the world, and led to tours of Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and USA.

From 2001-5, the Dubmission crew concentrated more on artist management and event promotion than releasing records. However after hearing Pitch Black’s Ape to Angel album, they decided to bring Dubmission out of “retirement”, as it represented everything and more that the label had tried to achieve.

Since then the label has gone from strength to strength, with several more releases from Pitch Black (Frequencies Fall, Rude Mechanicals, Rhythm, Sound & Movement plus their first two albums, Futureproof and Electronomicon), as well as International Observer’s Seen, Heard and Felt, Warp Technique’s Make Animals Happy, Third Ear Audio’s Third Ear Audio and Paddy Free’s Karekare. The crew has also found time to compile two smoky collections for the Japanese label, Wakyo: On A Dubmission Volumes One and Two.

In 2010, to celebrate 15 years of business, they are set to release at least 16 projects, including new EPs by Pitch Black, Warp Technique, Doof, Green Monitor and 100th Monkey, plus re-issuing albums by Bluey, Stress Assassin and Bill&Ben.

Will Afrojack hijack WMC 2010?

Delivered... Posted by Kirsty Kane | Scene | Tue 2 Mar 2010 5:46 pm
Afrojack aka Nick van de Wall's rapid rise to the top of the electro house scene has been nothing short of spunky. The 22-year-old began producing professionally just three years ago, and in that short space of time, he has gone from playing bars in Greece for a measly 200 Euros a week, to being one of The Netherlands' hottest DJs and producers. Like his fellow countryman DJ Chuckie, Afrojack's ghetto-laced take on electro house has excited everyone within the mainroom house sphere, including David Guetta, who asked Afrojack to play at his F*** Me I'm Famous closing party at Pacha in Ibiza last summer, and Steve Angello, who has just released Afrojack's new single 'Pacha On Acid' on his Size imprint.

iPhone users become producers

Delivered... electronic beats NEWS as RSS-Feed | Scene | Tue 2 Mar 2010 11:38 am

iPhone users have yet another reason not to make eye contact. A new app from Swedish company AudioRealism, called technoBox, will allow a virtual techno studio in the palm of your hand.

The program emulates vintage equipment of the Roland TB-303 Bassline, TR-808 Rhythm Composer, and the 909 Rhythm Composer. These pristine sets of sounds have been rolled into one app, allowing your fingers an endless techno workout and should make the long commutes home a bit easier and fun.

What’s even more surprising is the decent audio engine and how nicely optimized the app runs on your smart phone. Affordable and nifty, let’s hope not everyone claims to be a ‘producer’ after the technoBox.

Curious on how the device works? Check out the video below.

latroya

The brainchild of Ibiza icon Brasilio de Olivieira, La Troya is one of the island’s most hedonistic and legendary parties, with a history going back more than 15 years. Since last summer, La Troya is back at it’s original location: Amnesia.

We’re warming up for this season’s excesses with a suggestive house/tech house mix from Venice house maestro Mauro Ferrucci, also known under his production alias Roy Malone. Featuring tracks from Marc Romboy, Pryda, Steve Angello and Gui Boratto, mixes like this is what dark rooms were invented for.

“Ladies spinning…” – 3rd IE-m show tonight @ 09:00 pm CET…

Delivered... IE-mAdmin | IEm News | Tue 2 Mar 2010 10:06 am

Hello, dear friends of Indian Electronic music !

1st I wish you all out there a Happy Holi! – It’s the annual Hinduistic feast of colours where you find Indians on the day of full moon outside on the street with tons of water and colour powder… painting each other – as a Indian girl from Kolkata told me last night – then looking like a chipmunk. HOLI is something similar to Eastern, where the beginning of Indian spring is celebrated wishing each other a colourful life.

About the show tonight…

Following two interesting themes with the premiere in January – 1st 10 years of Indian Electronic music – and the relevance of Bhangra in February I thought, its a good time to give the 1st Ladies of Indian Electronics our attention. “Ladies spinning…” (ref.: spinning the turn tables) might be an interesting topic for all music lovers out there… let surprisre yourself which names and some smoothing vibes I have on the list :-)

See you later “on air”… at 09:00 pm CET ! – Listen via Internet stream (or locally around Hamburg via cable/antenn on Tide 96.0 FM) and come into the show “live” via Web Cam / Chat & Skype (user name: indianemusic) ! – So fare… still some preparations running ;-)

Enjoy listening to good music ! – Ciao, ElJay.
