The winter gloves are off. Dance music needs a new manicure. With Miami's Winter Music Conference just around the corner, DJs are busy filling their record boxes with the latest and greatest beats they can get their hands on. David Piccioni from Azuli is a seasoned pro when it comes to predicting what tracks will be big at WMC. His London record label has flown the flag for house music since 1991, and the imprint has released a Miami WMC compilation every March for the last ten years. Azuli's success at cultivating WMC bombs comes from Piccioni's ability to sniff out mainroom growers - tracks that were released some time ago, but have yet to realise their full dancefloor potential - and wonderful new rhythms that by the year's end, will be bona fide club anthems. With every man and his blog pondering what tunes will be big in Miami's clubs and beach parties at the end of this month, we called up our trustworthy compadre, the old Mr. Piccioni, to lead our anthem guessing ceremony (which will run throughout March).

Conceived during the winter of 2009 by the LA production house Mochilla, Timeless, was a concert series created in homage to the composers and arrangers who have influenced hip-hop in the most literal and profound ways,  After performing three historic and sold out events featuring over 150 musicians, the Timeless sessions were filmed in detail via Mochilla's unmistakable visual style.

Featuring the influential works of J Dilla, Mulatu Astatke and Arthur Verocai, the Timeless Concert Series will be released in a 3 DVD Box Set on March 30th.  Limited to only 4000 copies, the set will include full liner notes, exclusive poster, bonus features and images.  Pre-orders are available now on Mochilla's official site.

Former FILTER cover stars, Band of Horses, have announced the release of their third and highly anticpated new album, Infinite Arms.  Slated for a May 18th release, it's unknown if their longtime label, Sub Pop will release the album.  Produced by the band and Phil Ek, the album marks the debut for touring members, Tyler Ramsey and Bill Reynolds.  The guys will also hit the road later this month.

Plastic Beach, the new album from Gorillaz is streaming in its entirety, over at NPR. The album continues in the spirit of collaboration, with Damon Albarn bringing in an impressive roster of musical contributors: Snoop Dogg, Bobby Womack, Lou Reed, Mos Def, Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys, Little Dragon, The Lebanese National Orchestra for Oriental Arabic Music, and many more. French electronic pop duo Air, have teamed up with London-based music technology company RjDj to create an innovative App, "Love by AIR," for the iPhone, which allows fans to experience Air’s music in a unique, immersive way. Fans can choose from five different "soundscapes," and then use the App’s features to transform the musical experience in real-time by sampling and processing ambient sounds, the fan’s own voice and more into Air’s own music. Fans can also record their own messages or performances with the application, allowing them to share their own unique productions of Air’s music with their friends, and with the world.
