Founder of Ethnotechno.com - dimmSummer released his first compilation album back in 2009. Revolution Rising: EthnoTechno vol.1, showcasing some of the finest names in a genre which is sometimes difficult to categorise.

There’s something about a compilation made by an insider that just stands out from the rest, with carefully selected and crafted tracks to really give you that audio experience that will constantly be playing on your ipod or in your car.

Making an appearance are Karsh Kale and Vishal Vaid, Cheb i Sabbah and the Punditz along with a solid slice of artists from across the globe such as State of Bengal, Niraj Chag, Jalebee Cartel, Nasha Experience, Sub Swara, GOONDA and many many more.

A track definitely recommendable and worth seriously chilling out to is dimmSummer’s awesome remix of Bob Holroyd’s “Light Water.” We’re talking serious full circle here as the original its based on, “Dark Waters” is from the year 2000!

There’s no stopping the most prolific electronica act from India. The MIDIval PunditZ are at it again, this time scoring with FIFA.

Along with names like Bassment Jaxx, Spearhead and Sergio Mendez, the Punditz have made it to the FIFA ’10 official PS3 and Xbox game soundtrack with ATOMIZER from their third studio album Hello Hello (2009).

Atomizer – Karsh Kale & Midival Punditz (Live at Paleo Fest 09)

The track featured is a dhol-centric version of ATOMIZER remixed by DJ Pathaan representing India in the game.

This isn’t the first time the Punditz have had their tracks have caught the ears of other video games such as Project Gotham and Need for Speed. Hollywood has also taken quite a fancy to their work in the past – Prison Break and the film Closer starring Natalie Portman and Jude Law.

Jesca Hoop: Seeds of Change

Jesca Hoop was in the bathtub when she received a phone call that changed her life. “It was the first domino in a series of events,” recalls the singer-songwriter, her chin resting on raised knees. “My management told me that a man named Guy Garvey wanted to interview me. I had no idea who he was.”

As just about any British music listener could tell you, Garvey is the soulful voice of Elbow, the Mancunian band that nudged its way into England’s superstar league with its fourth album, 2008’s The Seldom Seen Kid. Garvey, a raconteur with his own weekly show on BBC Radio 6 Music, was so enamored with Hoop’s avant-garde folk debut, 2007's Kismet, that he spontaneously called her for an on-air chat.   “I had a conversation with him while I was bathing,” says Hoop, whose last name is pronounced “hope.” “It was one of the first interviews I truly enjoyed. I love his mind and his love for language and music. We became friends on that phone call.” From there, the other dominoes toppled in serendipitous fashion. The Californian toured with Elbow and, in turn, invited Garvey to sing a duet that appears on her superb new album, Hunting My Dress. She also fell in love with someone in Elbow’s circle. The relationship inspired, quite literally, a career move. Last year, the boho-chic songwriter packed up her Los Angeles-based livelihood and relocated to the “smaller circuit” of the U.K.

Sia, Clap Your Hands (Diplo Remix)

Two musical prodigies that know how to shapeshift when delivering the jams have gotten together.  First Sia makes a song called "Clap Your Hands" for her album We Are Born, and then Diplo comes in and throws her funky new ditty around like a yoyo champ. It's an around the world followed by a gravity pull, closing it out with that walk the dog move - basically Diplo brings the bass, ups the clap, and removes both the funky guitar riffs and any lyrics that are not in the song's title, with a final product that sounds like a late night out.

Download the MP3 below, and look out for Sia on the road.

Exclusive Six Degrees mix on Solonopole

Delivered... globalnoize | dj mixes,Scene | Mon 26 Apr 2010 8:23 pm

Solénopole is a great radio/web station. They have exceptional podcasts and 60 minute SolénoMixes on their site that are mixed by artists like Gaudi, Burnt Friedman and Dub Gabriel. They got in contact and wanted to do have Six Degrees do their first ever exclusive label mix. We entrusted the steady ear of blogger/designer/dj Señor Oz to go through the catalogue and put together an hour of his favorites and feature tracks that were emblematic of the eclectic roster and sounds of the label.
“I wanted to include an even balance of old and new and include a variety of genres, but still have a unified mix and expose some gems that might have gone previously un-noticed, I also pulled many remixes from recent releases. The label has always been open to letting producers re-interpret and has always put out remix albums full of quality material for many moods and vibes.” Hope you enjoy. Full tracklist below. The mix starts about 5 minutes after an introduction.

School of Seven Bells Have a New Record On the Way

Experimental dream-pop group SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS announces the July 13th release of their new album Disconnect from Desire, on Vagrant/Ghostly International and Full Time Hobby in Europe.  In support of the release, the three-piece will play two shows at Mercury Lounge in their hometown of New York City, on June 9th and 10th.

The album, produced by band member Benjamin Curtis and mixed by Jack Joseph Puig, was recorded in the band's home studio and mixed in Los Angeles at Ocean Way Recording. Disconnect from Desire is a tremendous leap forward for the band musically, evident in all elements of their intricate and multi-layered sound.  Further, the unique experience of playing live allowed them to step out of their sometimes-insular creative process, and to discover and explore a newfound connectivity with listeners.  This connection to the external world is reflected throughout the new album and indicative of the trio's development. "From the start, we knew we wanted to make a record that connected on more of a direct and personal level than we ever had before," says Curtis, "It's a complete account of our lives this past year, and it's crazy how taking an honest look at yourself can tell you the most about the world around you."

Tour dates for SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS, more to be announced:
June 9 - Mercury Lounge - New York, NY
June 10 - Mercury Lounge - New York, NY
