As a part of that weekend I was able to see and meet DJ Tigerstyle remix India’s first oscar nominated film – Mother India!

On Thursday Republic of Brown, based in Los Angeles is dedicated in bringing you everything Indo-cool from entertainment and lifestyle scene, cutting-edge music, films, literature and much more!

Republic of Brown covered the Mother India Remix story with a quote from yours truly :)

Goldspot

Delivered... sanjay kundalia | Scene | Sat 31 Jul 2010 10:57 pm

Those of you who visited India during the early 90’s you’d remember a fizzy orange-flavoured soft drink that use to rule the industry with its zingy tangy taste. Well I do, and some else did too. Siddharth Kholsa, singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, like me, used to drink this carbonated orange beverage on his visits to India.

As a kid Siddharth grew up listening to some of the greats who grace the sound waves of the 1950s to 70s from the legendary Indian composer SD/RD Burman to the singers Mohammed Rafi and Kishore Kumar. Later on during his school years he is acquainted with the Beatles …

This concoction proved priceless as in 2005 Goldspot signed a record deal with a start-up independent label Union Records with their debut album “Tally of the Yes Men” But it wasn’t until the tastemaker DJ Nic Harcourt first introduced them GOLDSPOT on his morning show, KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic”.

The Sunday Times hailed Goldspot as “the best band to come out of America in years

After a live performance on Harcourt’s show, the band soon began selling out shows across Los Angeles. Harcourt championed the band, hailing them as his “favourite band of 2005″, and began playing tracks from Tally of the Yes Men on heavy rotation (“Rewind“, “Time Bomb“, and “Friday“).

With the backing from Harcourt the band received exposure that would lead to signing a deal with major record label Mercury Records (Universal Music Group) in the UK and a release of an alternate version of “Tally” was released in the UK in June, 2007, featuring A. R. Rahman’s Bollywood Orchestra.

Goldspot have this beautiful fresh trademark sound. It’s like atoms from Bollywood and The Beatles colliding to give an eclectic rock vibe integrating subtle resonance of bolly influences instrumentation with soul.

Hang with Robyn

Delivered... Posted by Alex Hughes | Scene | Sat 31 Jul 2010 11:13 am
If you haven't noticed, we're kind obsessed with Robyn around here. That's even truer now that we know that the Swedish singer apparently likes to lounge in bed, fiddling with an Elektron SidStation. (What a coincidence, so do we! Robyn, did you read our Craiglist post or something? Call us, we'll hang!) 'Hang With Me' will appear on 'Body Talk Pt. 2', the second part of Robyn's 2010 trilogy of albums, due out the first week of September; the eight-track EP features production by Klas Åhlund, Kleerup, Diplo, and Savage Skulls (and features an unlikely cameo from Snoop Dogg). If you just can't wait that long for a Robyn fix, check out the remixes of her recent singles. Mylo and Sharooz deliver a dirty electro-disco rework of her defiant kiss-off anthem, 'Don't F*cking Tell Me What To Do', while 'Dancing on My Own' gets spun in several different ways. Michael Woods turns it into a lighters-in-the-air progressive/trance anthem, Jakwob drops a flickering dubstep refix that's also heavy on the trance influence, and French house ambassador Fred Falke brings us exactly the kind of big-room epic we'd expect. Kompakt's Rex the Dog faithfully refines the original tune's sparkling electro-pop, giving it just the right amount of bark and bite. We'll shortly be announcing the winners in Robyn's 'None of Dem' remix contest, but you can still pick up the remix parts, if you're interested in redesigning the Robyn/Royksopp collaboration for your own sets.
