Black Soul: Madlib’s Boogie Medicine

Delivered... electronic beats NEWS as RSS-Feed | Scene | Tue 5 Oct 2010 12:40 pm

Madlib is the man; there is no doubt about that. We love him here at Electronic Beats as he is what we would refer to in the office as a ‘completist’ – someone who we subscribe to completely.

His forthcoming offering comes courtesy of his Madlib Medicine Show concept, which is a once-a-month, twelve-CD, six-LP series through the year of 2010 on his own imprint, Madlib Invazion.

As the Stones Throw website states, ‘Odd numbers, beginning with #1 in Jan. 2010 which we covered here, will be original hip-hop, remix, beat tape and jazz productions; even numbers will be mixtapes of funk, soul, Brazilian, psych, jazz and other undefined forms of music from the Beat Konducta's 4-ton* stack of vinyl.’

Next up, he releases Show 10, titled Black Soul, which is an 80 minute boogie mixtape. Black Soul charts the epochal time when black music made the transition from soul to boogie and disco through the mid to late 70’s.

No doubt this mix will blow our minds like only Madlib knows how.

Madlib Medicine Show #10: Black Soul will be out late October on Madlib Invasion and can be purchased via the Stones Throw website here.

Terror Danjah is Undeniable

Delivered... electronic beats NEWS as RSS-Feed | Scene | Tue 5 Oct 2010 12:26 pm

Terror Danjah the grime pioneer and future-bass poster boy is about to release his next album Undeniable via Hyperdub this November.

With some killer 12"'s already released on the label, as well as being in receipt of some serious kudos for his singles on Planet Mu, the East Londoner can expect to ride a wave of excitement from the more discerning bass DJ's and clubbers as his latest offering hits the shelfs.

With about half of the album being instrumental tracks, the rest are performed with collaborators including Double E and Baby Face Jay. It also features his recent 12"s for Hyperdub - 'Acid' & 'Bruizin' V.I.P.' and from what we have heard of the album, they are not the only killers on there.

Excited.

Culture Dox 005 feat. Regis and Function

Delivered... Posted by Beatportal | Scene | Tue 5 Oct 2010 9:22 am
"You stake your claim, you plant your flag, and you start a record label—it's very easy, to be honest," says Regis of techno's DIY spirit in an interview for Copenhagen's Culture Dox series. He and fellow Sandwell District artist Function are the focus of this week's edition, in a conversation that runs from the history of techno in Birmingham and New York to their distinct style of live performance, using two laptops and no synchronization. For fans of techno—or any kind of music with integrity, really—it's well worth watching. Since 2002, Sandwell District has pursued its own, uncompromising strain of techno, fleshing out its industrial-grade grind with dub effects, ambient soundscapes and surprisingly nimble, versatile beats. Keep reading to check out the label's releases plus further music from both Function and Regis.
