Undersea Poem – Nuvens by SixDegreesRecords

New York indie duo Chris Root & Juju Stulbach, aka Undersea Poem, have just released their newest EP, Washing Away Yesterday, now available for purchase on Six Degrees Online Store or iTunes.

Full of their usual sentimental and intimate songs, Washing Away Yesterday can best be described as a delicately laid out, romantic journey through love, sadness and new experiences. This 8-track album will put you at ease with its lighthearted guitar riffs and soft melodies, perfect for a weekend roadtrip or a long car ride.

Marcin Czubala: Stay Close

Delivered... Posted by Beatportal | Scene | Tue 1 Mar 2011 5:28 pm
Mobilee's Back to Back Volume 5 came out this week, offering a panoramic view of the Berlin label at its most diverse. As tracks from Vincenzo, Rodriguez Jr., and label head Anja Schneider attest, Mobilee's tech-house approach has never sounded more colorful; and Marcin Czubala's half of the disc finds the Polish producer branching out from lush tech house and Latin grooves into downtempo and even proper pop songcraft. The latter is clear from "Stay Close," featuring the Warsaw singer Novika, a moody cut clearly inspired by classic tracks from Matthew Herbert and Everything But the Girl. As the lead single for the comp, "Stay Close" comes alongside "Never Give It Up," a bluesy collab between Czubala and Catz 'n Dogz, and Czubala and Hugo's "Zoo Comunale (Lemos Remix)," a gleaming tech-house grinder that crunches like boots through heavy snow. Spring is just around the corner, but here, at least, winter feels just fine.

Mix of the day: Girl Unit (maker of anthematic UK bass/hip hop hybrid “Wut”) with jukin house and mad garage chops!

Last year he unleashed “Wut” on unsuspecting dubstep punters, wondering what hit them. “Wut” didn’t wobble, and didn’t squeel like dubstep tracks did mostly. Plainly speaking, it wasn’t dubstep, it was just another unclassifiable Night Slugs outing. This year Girl Unit continues record label Night Slugs reign, alongside co-horts Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990, to name but a few. Get involved!

Caribou and Four Tet go back to back

Delivered... electronic beats NEWS as RSS-Feed | Scene | Tue 1 Mar 2011 2:39 pm

Dan Snaith of Caribou and Kieran Hebden of Four Tet have announced plans for a duel 12” to come out on Hebden’s Text Records imprint, as well a show in Berlin this Friday at which the pair will go back to back in a unique night of music at the club Horst Krzbrg.

The split 12” sees Hebden and Snaith taking a side each to create two tracks of wonderful melody, and dance-floor goodness. Both tracks are immaculately crafted (would you expect anything less?) and are directed straight at the dance-floor. No messing around.

Snaith adopts a new alias, Daphni, to create ‘Ye Ye’ which compared to Caribou’s album Swim is a little simpler in production, but just as impressive as any of the tracks on the album. Hebden’s track called ‘Pinnacles’ has its feet firmly in both house and disco, layered with pianos, synths and an infectious beat.

We have two preview streams of the tracks; ‘Pinnacles’ is a rip from the Gilles Peterson BBC Radio One show and ‘Ye Ye’ is via Snaith’s Soundcloud page.

You can catch Caribou’s Dan Snaith and Four Tet’s Kieron Hebden go back to back to back this Friday at Horst Kruezberg. The split 12” will be on the way later this year.
